"Two forms of S. dissectum exist on the Delmarva: S. dissectum forma obliquum (Muhl.) Clute and S. dissectum forma dissectum. Forma obliquum is the most common, with trowel-shaped sub-leaflets, and forma dissectum is the extreme form with skeletonized leaflets cut into linear teeth. The two forms are often present within the same population." —William A. McAvoy
